Preparation
1. Heat up the gas grill to 400 degrees. You'll want a grill safe pan like a large cast iron skillet. Place it on the grill to heat up. To make a great smashburger you'll want a cast iron press or a metal spatula.
2. Make 4 round balls with the ground beef. Mix the pepper and salt together in a bowl.
3. Add the vegetable oil to the skillet and place the burger patty on the skillet, place the wax paper sheet below the press and press down hard on the burger.
4. Season the patty with a little bit of salt/pepper mix and flip the patty. Place the cheese on top of the patty, cook for 2 minutes. Remove and repeat.
5. To assemble the burger add the mayonnaise to the bottom of the burger bun, add slices of pickles, top with two smashburger patties, top with onion spread and bun. Enjoy!
