Preparation
1. Drain canned chickpeas, rinse under cold water, and place them in a bowl. Cover with boiling water and let them sit for 5-7 mins (this will make the hummus creamier).
2. Drain chickpeas again and add them to a food processor or blender along with the tahini, lemon juice, peeled garlic cloves, olive oil, and spices. Blend until a creamy consistency forms, taste, and adjust seasoning as needed. If the hummus is not creamy, add more lemon juice, olive oil, or a bit of water until it reaches the consistency you prefer.
3. Heat olive oil in a pan on the stove. Once heated, add chopped onion and minced garlic. Pan fry until golden brown (about 2-3 mins). Move onion and garlic to the side of the pan and add ground beef. Season directly on the pan and stir + crumble it into small pieces until it is browned. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed. Mix in chopped cilantro when finished cooking.
4. Smooth hummus into a bowl and leave a large indent in the middle to make room for the ground beef. Fill the hole with beef. Add chili powder, a drizzle or olive oil, and fresh cilantro to garnish.
